Belgian Waffles with Spiced Apples
If you don’t have the whole spices, just use half to one teaspoon of ground mixed spices instead
Ingredients
- 6 St Pierre Belgian Waffles with Butter
- 2 firm red apples
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 or 2 star anise
- 3 or 4 cloves
- Good pinch ground cinnamon
- Good pinch ground ginger
- Redcurrants to serve
Steps
- Warm the waffles in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes
- Meanwhile, wash the apples, cut them into quarters and remove the cores then chop into pieces about 1-2 cm
- Melt the butter in a frying pan then add the star anise and cloves. Toss in the apples and fry for 3-5 minutes until starting to soften and turn golden
- Reduce the heat, add the brown sugar and ground spices and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes. Remove and discard the whole star anise and cloves
- Serve the waffles with the apples on top and the juices spooned over with the redcurrants on the side
